Introduction

This guide is to talk you through the initial setup of your softphone. If you are unfamiliar with the softphone app, it is an application for your smartphone which allows you to make and receive calls from anywhere in the world using your usual landline telephone number over your mobile 3G, 4G and WiFi.

Before you start you should already have an email with your username and password for the mobile softphone app. If you do not have that information, please contact your centre manager who will be able to assist.

Downloading the app

The essensys mobile softphone app is available for both iOS and Android. On your smartphone, visit your local app store and search for "essensys softphone." Here you will find the softphone app to download directly onto your device. If you have any issues locating the softphone app in the app store, the email containing your username and password will contain direct links to the app in the app store.

iPhone & Android Setup

When you first open the app you will need to give the app permission to access your contacts and send you notifications. Just touch Allow and Yes on each of the pop ups to do that. You will be prompted to enter your username and password as a SIP account. Enter your username and password exactly as it displays in the email received. Your username is always your phone number while the password is a unique 12 digit key. When entering the password, remember to enter the capital letters where necessary.

Once logged in, your SIP account will now display a green tick or be labelled Registered to show it is online and ready to be used. You can press the Keypad symbol at the bottom to make your first call.

To confirm everything is working it is recommended that you dial your voicemail on 1571 and confirm you hear the automated prompts. The first time you make a call you will also need to give the app access to your microphone.
