When installing elumo hardware—such as readers and hubs—onto new doors, Installer Mode provides a safe and structured way to test and validate the setup before going live. This mode introduces an “Installer” state, allowing installers to verify functionality without needing to connect the device to a live platform or tenant account.
Why Installer Mode Exists
Installer Mode is designed to:
Allow independent installation and testing without needing access to the essensys platform or customer configuration
Provide clear visual feedback on device status via LED animations
Ensure a smooth transition from installation to live operation
Key Features of Installer Mode
Installer card support
Installer Mode works alongside a special Installer card with a fixed card ID. This card allows the person installing the device to validate the lock installations autonomously without needing platform access.
elumo animations
elumo readers use LED animations to indicate their current state:
LED colour | Meaning |
Blue | Installer Mode (Not yet commissioned) |
White | Configured to a bookable space |
Red | Configured as an access door |
Green flash | Access granted |
Red flash | Access denied |
This makes it easy for installers and support teams to visually confirm the device's status at a glance
3. Platform visibility
Installer Mode status is also visible via the elumo platform, allowing:
Remote support teams to verify which doors are still in setup
Customers to track installation progress before handover
Transitioning a Device to Live Mode
Once installation and testing are complete in Installer Mode, the device can be commissioned and made available for occupier use. This is done by either:
Once one or both of these steps is completed:
The device exits Installer Mode and will appear online in the doors menu
The LED status changes from blue (testing) to white (bookable), red (access only door)
The device becomes fully operational
