Provisioning a digital elumo pass via multi-factor authentication

How to get your elumo digital pass | multi-factor authentication

Updated over a month ago

The elumo digital pass allows users to access spaces using their mobile device via Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. This guide outlines the web-based authentication journey that enables users to receive and activate their digital pass securely.

Overview of the Journey

The provisioning process is initiated when a user is invited to receive their digital pass via a QR code or URL. The journey includes authentication via either email or SMS.

Step-by-Step Process

  1. Scan the QR Code

    • The Operator provides a QR code or URL (issued via email or printed) for the user to scan.

    • Scanning the QR code/using the link launches the elumo digital pass provisioning flow in the user’s browser.

  2. Enter Mobile Number

    • The user is prompted to enter their registered email address mobile number to begin the authentication process.

    • The system checks if the provided details exist in the database:

      • If valid: proceed to OTP verification.

      • If not found: an error message is displayed, and the user is prompted to try again or contact support.

    • Tip: If the user details are not recognised, make sure the profile information is up to date.

  3. Receive Authentication link or code

Depending on the selected authentication method:

    • Email: The user receives a secure email containing a temporary add to wallet link or OTP.

    • SMS: The user receives an SMS containing a secure temporary link or OTP.

This directs the user to the elumo pass provisioning page.

  4. Add to Wallet

    • The user follows the steps to add the pass to their device.

    • If no credentials previously exist against the user, new credentials are generated and assigned to the pass

    • If credentials already exist (e.g. from a physical access card), the digital pass will use the same credentials.

Requirements for Successful Provisioning

  • The user must have a valid email address/mobile number stored in their CRM.

  • The entered contact details much match those on the user's profile.

  • The user must be synced to the elumo Platform.
