Use the Wi-Fi Secure roaming report to understand how many users (occupier users or account team members) are connecting to the Wi-Fi Secure network at sites other than their homesite. By default, each row details one visitor connecting at one site as a roaming user.

This report allows you to understand usage trends and offer added-value to your users by way of promotions and discounts.

Notes:

  • Wi-Fi Secure is the network that your individual occupier users or operator team members use when connecting their private Wi-Fi enabled devices to the network. For more information, see Wi-Fi overview.

  • A "roaming user" is one of the following:

    • An occupier user who has connected to the Wi-Fi Secure network at a site other than their Wi-Fi homesite.

    • An account team member who has connected to the Wi-Fi Secure network at a site other than their Telephony homesite.

Permissions and access:

  • You can only view this report if you are an operator with multiple sites.

  • You can only see details of those roaming connections where you have admin access to both the user's homesite and the site they visited as a roaming user.

Access the report

All site reports are located in the Operations section of the essensys Platform. To open the correct section:

  1. In the main menu, click Operations.
The Operations page opens. By default, Reports is selected from the overhead menu.

  2. Under Wi-Fi reports, click Wi-Fi Secure roaming.

The Wi-Fi Secure roaming report opens. By default, the report shows details of users connecting their devices to Wi-Fi Secure networks at sites other than their homesite, today.

Filter the report

Use the settings to the right of the report to include or exclude results from the report:

  1. Limit your results based on the associated sites:

    • Homesite - Only include connections where the connecting user has this homesite.

    • Visited site - Only include connections where the user is visiting this site as a roaming user.

  2. Select the period for your report by clicking Day, Week, Month, or Custom and then browsing to the required date using the calendar tool.

  3. Select which View of the connections data you would like to see, either:

    • Summary (default) to view the summarized report.
This shows one row per user, and has a days column indicating the number of days on which the user connected to the network as a roaming user.

    • Sessions to view details of the individual sessions.
This breaks the summary down, showing one row per session. This report has a date column (in place of days) indicating the date on which the session was established.

  4. From the Users drop-down list, select the types of user you want your report to include:

    • All users (default).

    • Occupier users.

    • Team members. Note: Team members are the account team members that work for the operator.

  5. Use the Visit fields to filter in or out some results that may otherwise be misleading.
Example: If your sites are on a campus, you may want to filter out any "incidental connections" when an employee's devices automatically connect at the different sites as they walk through the grounds. Excluding those results that are shorter than 2 minutes should achieve this.

Note: The report updates as you make your selections in the settings panel.
