The essensys Platform provides a number of bandwidth graphs, allowing you to view bandwidth usage at your sites. This lets you manage services, troubleshoot problems (resolving contention, for example), and analyze your occupier or operator usage.

The IP Breakdown report is a bar graph describing bandwidth usage by different IP addresses.

Tip: You can return to the reports home page by clicking Reports from the main menu.

Bandwidth usage by IP breakdown

Access the bandwidth reports

All site reports are located in the Operations section of the essensys Platform. To open the correct section:

  1. In the main menu, click Operations.
The Operations page opens. By default, Reports is selected from the overhead menu.

  2. Under Network reports, click Bandwidth.

The Bandwidth usage report opens. By default, the report shows a summary of the Site Bandwidth Usage view of today's data.

Show the occupier's bandwidth usage by IP address

The IP Breakdown report is a bar graph describing bandwidth usage by different IP addresses belonging to the occupier.

  1. Select the appropriate site from the Site Selector.

  2. From the View drop-down list, select the name of your occupier beneath their pipe. For example:

    • Select Superfast > essensys to view the bandwidth usage for the essensys occupier on the superfast pipe.

  3. From View, click IP breakdown.

The IP breakdown report opens. Each bar in the chart shows the bandwidth usage by a specific IP address. The IP address with the highest usage is presented at the top of the page.

From this view you can:

  • Hover your cursor over a bar in the chart to view a details tool tip showing the IP address and the upload and download usage associated with this IP address.

What if the occupier has Public IP?

If the occupier has Public IP, you will only be able to see the network up to their router or firewall (their public IP device).

You cannot, therefore, see which individual device is causing their issue in the IP breakdown report.

Tip: If the occupier is over-utilizing their bandwidth, and they have Public IP, they will need to investigate their usage with their IT Team/Provider.
