Your occupier users or account team members can use a SIP Softphone App of their choice to make and receive calls using their assigned phone number over mobile 3G, 4G, 5G, and Wi-Fi, from anywhere in the world.
Note: This process describes the enablement steps for this service. Your occupier user or account team member will need to download the softphone app, configure the permissions on their device, and log on to make use of the softphone app. For more details, see Using your softphone app.
Enable a softphone app for a user or team member
Before you begin
To be able to enable a softphone app for a phone number, the following must be true:
The phone number must be in the ACTIVE state. See Activate a phone number.
The phone number must be assigned to an occupier user or account team member. See Assign a phone number.
The phone number must be associated with a Polycom Flex or Yealink Flex device. See Set up device / handset details.
The occupier or account must have an available softphone service.
Accessing the Phone number details
Access the phone number details for either the operator or an occupier:
To access the telephony details for the operator:
Click Account in the main menu.
Select the Telephony tab.
Select the <site>.
To access the telephony details for an occupier:
Click Occupiers in the main menu.
Select the <occupier>.
Select the Telephony tab.
Select the <site>.
If the list of phone numbers is not visible (the number of phone numbers is presented), click the drop-down icon.
All the phone numbers that have been allocated for the selected occupier or the operator at this site are presented in a list.
Tip: You can filter this list using the options to its top-right.
Enabling softphone for this phone number
When hovering your cursor over the phone number:
Click Enable softphone.
A message opens telling you that the enablement process is in progress.
Click OK to close the message.
After a short delay, softphone is enabled for this phone number and an invitation email is sent to the user or team member.
The invitation email contains:
Links to the App Store and Google Play to download the essensys softphone app
The username and password that the user or team member needs to use to log in to the essensys softphone app.
Links to the help materials that can be used by this user or team member to set up their essensys softphone app.
Important: If this extension is currently logged in to a physical handset, the handset is then rebooted.
Disable softphone
Once softphone is enabled, the same process can be followed to disable softphone for the user or team member.
Important: The handset will be rebooted.
3rd Party Softphone
Using Your Own Softphone with a 3rd Party Application
Customers may want to use their own Softphone in conjunction with a 3rd party application. Examples of such applications include Bria, Zoiper, and X-Lite.
Getting Started
To get started, you'll need to make sure you have the following information,
SIP Username and Password
SIP IP, Domain and Port
Please make sure the steps above are followed within Connect and you will be sent the SIP Username and Password.
For the SIP IP and Domain please raise a case within Connect or by emailing help@essensys.tech and we can provide this information to you.
Note that support to these 3rd Party apps would be provided by the Software provided.
